About Hypnotherapy
It’s likely that you will already know that there are two parts to our mind.
The conscious mind allows us to make decisions all day about what we do, what we eat, how we live, what we say and so on.
The subconscious mind is the other part that is in some ways “behind the scenes”. It controls previous experiences based on memories and beliefs from the past. Whilst these past experiences don’t always serve us well, it is important to remember that the intention of the subconscious mind is always positive. It always wants the best for us.
The subconscious mind is the part I work with when helping you to make change.
We ask the conscious mind to step aside so we can reset your thoughts, feelings (or whatever it is you want to change) to a time before the unwanted behaviour came into your life.
Hypnosis involves inducing a very relaxing sleep-like state.
Once that place of deep relaxation has been reached the subconscious mind is ready and open for change. Suggestions are then given to help with whatever it is that you need to change. It’s extremely flexible and there is now considerable clinical evidence to suggest that the inclusion of hypnotic procedures may be beneficial in the management and treatment of a wide range of conditions and problems.
Hypnotherapy works directly with the subconscious mind, pushing out of the way the conscious state. It’s really very responsive and results can be seen in a few sessions. As an example, in hypnosis we can reframe an unhelpful or painful event releasing the emotion, so it doesn’t ‘hurt’ in the same way.
